When “Just Getting Through” Is Enough

As December arrives, so do the lists.

The highlights.

The accomplishments.

The carefully curated reflections of all that was achieved this year.

And while there is beauty in celebrating growth and milestones, I want to pause here for a moment—to make room for something that often goes unspoken.

If the only thing you did this year was get through it… that counts.

There are seasons of life where success doesn’t look shiny or shareable.

It doesn’t come with photos or before-and-after stories.

Sometimes success is quiet, internal, and deeply personal.

Sometimes success looks like:

   •   You got out of bed on days when the weight felt unbearable

   •   You took a shower after putting it off all week

   •   You ate one full meal today

   •   You kept breathing through moments you didn’t think you could

   •   You had one gentle thought instead of a harsh one

That matters.

We live in a culture that often measures worth by productivity, progress, and proof. But healing, surviving, and staying present through difficulty are not failures—they are acts of courage.

There are years meant for building and expanding.

And there are years meant for holding, resting, and enduring.

Both are sacred.

If this year asked more of you than you could give…

If your energy went toward staying afloat rather than moving forward…

If you are ending this year tired, tender, or unsure…

Please know this: you are not behind. You did not miss the point. You did not fail.

You listened to what life required of you.

At Spice for Life Coaching, I believe success is not one-size-fits-all. Sometimes it is growth and momentum. Other times it is gentleness, self-compassion, and choosing to stay.

As we move through this season of reflection, may we offer ourselves—and one another—permission to redefine success.

You are allowed to be proud of surviving.

You are allowed to honor the small wins.

You are allowed to rest without explanation.

And if you need someone to sit with you in this space—to listen, to breathe, to remember who you are beneath the pressure—I am here.

Sometimes, making it through is the achievement.
